Programme Overview
The Post Graduate Programme for Executives on Leadership in Smart Manufacturing (PGPEX-LSM), offered by IIM Sirmaur, is a one-year, fully residential PGDM global management programme designed to develop future-ready leaders for the manufacturing, digital transformation, operations, and supply chain sectors. As India positions itself as a global manufacturing hub under the “Make in India” initiative, this programme bridges the gap between managerial expertise and technical prowess in the era of Industry 4.0.
In Terms One, Three, and Four, delivered at IIM Sirmaur, students build a strong foundation in core management disciplines including analytics, operations management, supply chain strategy, business statistics, and finance specifically contextualized for the manufacturing ecosystem. The programme transitions to Germany for Term Two, where participants undertake an intensive academic module at RWTH Aachen University, one of Germany’s elite public institutions known for its engineering excellence. This international immersion provides exposure to cutting-edge topics such as robotic systems, IoT, and smart interfaces, alongside industry visits and laboratory work. Additionally, the programme includes a specialized coursework component at the Siemens Manufacturing Excellence Lab in India, offering hands-on experience with digital twins and automation technologies. The PGPEX-LSM programme carries a total of 96 credits. It also includes a summer internship component. Final placements take place in Term Four.
Value Proposition
The programme is designed for ambitious professionals seeking global careers in smart manufacturing and operations. Delivered across India and Germany, the programme blends IIM academic rigour with international exposure, industry immersion, and cross-cultural learning. Students gain hands-on experience through international lab work at RWTH Aachen, specialized training at the Siemens Centre of Excellence, and extensive networking opportunities, earning a distinctive credential that significantly enhances employability. The programme develops future leaders and entrepreneurs with strong intercultural competence, German language exposure, and specialized expertise in emerging domains such as artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, sustainable production, and frugal manufacturing.
